Training

A. HOME MANAGEMENT COURSE

This course is the basic course offered at Helderberg Development Centre and is mostly aimed at unemployed women, who are given the opportunity to empower themselves in order to get jobs.

Applicants are being scrutinized through interviews and have to be able to communicate well (reading as well as writing) in English. A small registration fee is payable.

These course modules serve to enrich the student.

The following modules are presented:

Life Orientation

  • Develop one self
  • Carry out tasks according to instructions communicated
  • Resolve grievances and manage conflict
  • Set a goal
  • Solve a problem
  • Function effectively as part of a team
  • Identify good leadership qualities
  • Interact within a diverse group

Personal Money Management

  • Basic personal money management
  • Planning and implementing basic budgeting skills
  • Have basic business skills to become an entrepreneur

Kitchen Skills

  • Organize the kitchen effectively
  • Use of electrical kitchen appliances
  • Read and follow a recipe effectively
  • Plan balanced meals for the family
  • Prepare meals in a home environment
  • Serve meals in a home environment

Cleaning Skills

  • Correct use of cleaning equipment and agents
  • Practical application of cleaning methods
  • Job and time planning
  • Manage work

Laundry Skills

  • Care for laundry in a home environment
  • Mending articles
  • Care for and clean laundry room appliances

Planning, preparing and serving basic family meals. Empower your domestic worker to manage the following aspects of your household:

  • Healthy breakfasts, lunches and suppers
  • Packed meals
  • Tea-time surprises (e.g. baking of rusks)
  • Different cooking methods (e.g micro wave, etc.)
